cannabinoid receptors

Type: Terms

Part of cells throughout the body that respond to cannabinoids. Located throughout the body, cannabinoid receptors are part of the endocannabinoid system, which is involved in a variety of bodily processes including appetite, pain-sensation, mood, and memory. When cannabinoids are introduced, either from being made by the body or from ingesting cannabis, they bind to these receptors throughout the body and then change the person’s perception of things like pain, mood, and appetite.
